2024-25 Upper Deck Synergy Hockey focuses on the chase more than a traditional set build. It’s not just one challenge, but there are several layered within the checklist. This includes the base set.
And while autographs are one of the chase elements, that doesn’t mean that collectors will find them in every hobby box. Keeping with past versions of Synergy, they’re not a box hit. Rather, it’s a predominantly inserts and parallel cards.
2024-25 Upper Deck Synergy Hockey Checklist Overview
The 2024-25 Synergy base set isn’t big. It has just 125 cards that are split into four sections: Veterans (#1-60), Legends (#61-75), Rookies (#76-115) and Rookies SP (#116-125). One might think that with such a small checklist, it’s easy to complete. It’s not. In fact, it’s the opposite.
Standard base cards are extremely tough to pull. Veterans and Legends have just 15 numbered copies each while Rookies and Rookies SP are limited to 24 copies.
This is an instance where parallels are much more plentiful. Red versions, average out to one per pack. Those found in hobby boxes can also be used for the set’s Bounty program. Half of the Red parallels in hobby packs have a code on the back. Those that complete the set of 125 cards and register their codes through the program’s website fast enough are eligible for exclusive cards not available in packs. The first 10 to finish get a set of Gold parallels plus a set of Gold Cast for Greatness cards. The next 15 receive just the base Gold parallel set.
Base cards also have Purple parallels that are numbered to 99. Select Purple cards have autograph versions that have no more than 99 copies each for rookies, 65 or less for vets and 35 and under for greats.
Additional Autographs
The 2024-25 Upper Deck Synergy Hockey checklist does have some standalone autograph inserts, but they’re tough. Sygnatures are 1:160 packs while New Game Sygnatures are 1:320. Both have serial-numbered Red Backcheck parallels as well as one-of-one Gold Checkmate versions.
Rookie Sygnatures are also in play at 1:120 packs. Red Backcheck are the only parallels here.
Inserts
With base cards and autographs being scarce, that means a lot of inserts to fill out the product. As is the case in most releases, it’s a mix of new and returning.
Colorways is a big debut. Consisting of 100 cards (vets, rookies and legends), these are 1:4 packs. Parallels go bright with Neon Yellow (1:10 packs), Neon Blue (/99), Neon Pink (/49), Neon Green (/25) and Gold (1/1).
NHL Impressions takes a tiered approach based on different themes. Superstars are 1:10 packs, Rookies are 1:14, Goalies are 1:20 and Greats land 1:40. Superstars, Rookies and Goalies have Magenta (/599), Green (/149) and Gold (1/1) versions. Greats parallels are smaller with just Magenta (/299) and Gold (1/1). Some NHL Impressions cards also have autographs.
Other debuting insert themes include New Game (1:6 packs), Generators (1:8 packs), Start Your Engines (1:8 packs), Monuments (1:9 packs), #1 Hits (1:16 packs), All-Star Assembly (1:32 packs), Drop the Hammer (1:40 packs), All-Synergy Team (1:67 packs), and Interdimensional (1:128 packs).
Rookie Journey returns with a new batch of first-year standouts. Each player in the set has three different cards: Home, Away and Draft. Each version is 1:27 packs with additional Red (/499), Green (/199) and Gold (/25) parallels.
It’s a similar set-up for Synergisitc Duos, which has interconnected Current Stars, Star and Great, and Star and Rookie versions. Base versions for each are 1:23 packs with all getting Red (/499), Green (/199) and Gold (/25) as well.
StarQuest is back as well. These are fairly tough at 1:64 packs. Lime Green (1:150 packs), Purple (1:700 packs) and Gold (1:3,200 packs) are the parallels.
Waffleboarded (1:45 packs) and metal Cast for Greatness (1:60 packs) return also. Cast for Greatness Signatures come numbered to 25.
