2024-25 Panini Obsidian Basketball is the latest installment of the company’s blacked out chromium product that also stretches into the colorful through its popular parallels.
Each hobby box delivers three hits, typically two autographs and one memorabilia card, plus a combined three inserts or base parallels, and one card from the base set.
2024-25 Panini Obsidian Basketball Checklist Overview
The seventh edition of the chromium Panini Obsidian Basketball set will again give collectors a sturdy feel and plenty of etching.
Parallels will pop out from packs with bright colors – especially the popular Flood parallels that are numbered from /125 down to /1.
New parallels for this year’s set will include:
- Electric Etch Pink Flood /49
- Electric Etch Blue Flood /30
- Electric Etch Hot Springs /15
- Electric Etch Caldera
Autographs and Memorabilia Overview
There are plenty of autograph sets found within Obsidian, most of which are returning themes from past years. Among them:
- Rookie Jersey Autographs
- Rookie Jersey Ink
- Matrix Material Autos
- Magmatic Signatures
- Galaxy Ink
- Twilight Signatures
- Rookie Eruption Autographs
- Volcanic Signatures
Panini will introduce at least one new autograph set in Scorched Signatures, which incorporates flames into the design.
Cutting Edge memorabilia cards also return.
Insert Overview
Obsidian is also known for its stable of inserts, several of which are rare SSP chase cards.
Returning insert concepts include:
- Equinox
- Orbital
- Hotspot
- Supernova
Atomic Initials is new. These cards overlay a player’s initials and their name over an action photo.
Two returners land among the toughest inserts to find:
- Volcanix
- Black Color Blast
A third SSP insert, Vitreous, is a new die-cut offering.
